KwaZulu-Natal has the busiest port in Africa and the second largest economy in South Africa. It is no surprise then, that the province has a wealth of excellent conferencing venues and all the accompanying facilities to support business from Wi-Fi hotspots and top of the range conferencing equipment, restaurants, a variety of accommodation options, to spas, entertainment and sporting facilities.

KwaZulu-Natal has venues conveniently close to the provinces five airports of King Shaka International airport in Durban, the provincial capital Pietermaritzburg and the regional airports of Richard’s Bay, Ulundi and Margate.

Due to its beautiful and diverse natural environment KZN is in a position to not only offer conferencing venues in convenient urban hubs of activity, but also in beautifully peaceful rural settings, with beaches and sea views, mountain vistas, rolling hills and dams, forests and wide open plains – all conducive to doing business and creative thinking. 

The range of conferencing venues caters for small and large meetings, workshops, seminars, corporate functions and events, such as weddings and family get-togethers.  There are options to suit all budgets and many are attached to excellent guesthouses, lodges and hotels.

Durban’s Albert Luthuli International Conference Centre (ICC) is an award-winning venue in the heart of the city. It was opened by former president Nelson Mandela in 1997 and was South Africa’s first International Convention Centre. Since its inception, this world-class facility, renowned for its service excellence, has played a pioneering role in attracting international events to KZN.

The Exhibition Centre, jointly managed with the ICC, is adjacent to the ICC and both can function as one. The Centres two large halls can accommodate a plenary of more than 8 000 delegates, and the smaller halls and catering facilities, and extensive outdoor plazas and gardens facilitate excellent outdoor shows and the erection of marquees.

The ICC has won numerous awards and been voted Africa’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre by the World Travel Awards no fewer than 13 times in 14 years and has been rated amongst the World’s Top 15 convention centres for AIPC. It is located 30 minutes from the King Shaka International Airport and there are more than 3 600 hotel rooms within a 10 minutes’ walk.
