Armoured Train Capture Site

On 15 November 1899, near this site Winston Churchill was captured by Boer forces who derailed the armoured observation train in which he was travelling during the South African War.

Armoury (Old Magazine)

It is believed that the Natal Mounted Rifles built this arsenal (powder magazine) in the 1870's. The architectural design and gables are unusual. The armoury is now used as a Moth Shellhole.
